Condolence: To all family and friends of the deceased,
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Many have found true comfort in the pages of God's word the Bible (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). In God's word we find the promise that we can be reunited with our loved ones (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15). The Bible tells us where this happy reunion will take place (Psalm 37: 11, 29; Matthew 5:5). We are told why we die (Genesis 3:17-19; Romans 5:12), and that Jehovah, the God of the Bible (Psalm 83:18), will end death forever (Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:3,4). At John 8:32 Jesus said " and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free".
I met Kevin in 1980 when we both worked with the then New York City Department of Personnel. We became and remained friends from that time. Although I moved to Virginia last year, we stayed in contact.
Through the years, we laughed, partied, argued and shared personal triumphs and tragedies. I was privileged to meet his late wife Jeanette as well as his children Lisa, Kevina and Melissa and grandchildren Malik, Justin, Amir and Emani.
Kevin exhibited a gruff exterior and was often very blunt. Perhaps this was because of his rough upbringing or a reflection his training as a Marine and service in Vietnam during the war. I do know, however, that had a sensitive side and loved his offspring.
As his family grew into adulthood, he often spoke of his desire to purchase a large home on his GI bill so they could all live together. He was proud that his children grew into productive adults, and hoped that his grandchildren will do the same.
Kevin was my buddy so I was saddened by how severely he suffered with health issues in his final years. I will miss him and mourn with you. Now, however, his suffering is over.
